The cartoonists compares the shark's illness to food poisoning. A food poisoning occurs when something bad has been eaten and not digested properly. The sharks on the left thinks that the poisoning is due to eating a bad seal but the shark on the right contradicts it. The shark's illness is due to pollution because the fish swam through a polluted beach. A polluted beach is a very great danger for all swimming fish and wildlife, especially the toxins and debris. The toxins enter the water from industrial dumping, sewage and garbage thrown recklessly into the ocean by humans. All this can affect the fish directly ( they swallow contaminated water ) or indirectly ( it destroys their immune system and their sources of food). The main purpose of this cartoon is to show that pollution has a very damaging effect on marine wildlife and people should be made aware of it.
