Elements of a good paragraph a single paragraph in an essay should be focused on a single topic. if it begins with one focus or major point of discussion, it should not end with another or wander between different ideas. this trait of a paragraph is known as . another trait is coherence. coherence is the trait that makes the paragraph easily understandable to a reader. it can be of two types: the logical bridge or the verbal bridge. the logical bridge is where the is carried from sentence to sentence. successive sentences written in parallel also form a logical bridge. a verbal bridge is where the key words are used in several sentences or are used to link two ideas. a topic that is being discussed should be done fully and adequately.

The 4 elements of a paragraph are unity, coherence, adequate development and topic sentence. Unity is the trait that refers to the paragraph being on topic or focusing on one major point. Coherence makes the paragraph understandable. Adequate development refers to how well the topic is discussed and/or proven. Topic sentence is the main idea statement of the paragraph.
