Desiree acts normally. She loves her baby no matter the color. She accepts him. For a moment she thinks that armand felt the same for the baby, referring to Armand as the proudest father in the parish. She was wrong. With the passage of time, armand distances himself and demonstrates disappointment, by the color of the skin of the baby and to have discovered t desiree's heritage.
