One, they had to conquer (steal) the Native Americans land. Two, they had to look for resources for food. Three, they had to overcome and deal with illness and disease’s. Four, they had a difficult time clearing timber due to their technology back then, if they couldn’t clear the timber they couldn’t build houses, shops, etc and start a civilization.
