    In the text, we can see that it explains why the euphoria of victory results in being vulnerable to attack, why when we are impressed with our own success we cannot see that the gifts come from God. If we are not thankful, but boastful, then we show our weak points, and the result is that we are attacked and consequently, we succumbed.

  If we were not so proud of our own qualities and if we recognized that we depend on God to reach the gift of victory, instead of being arrogant, we could win.

This passage reflects the structure of cause and effect. In this passage, we learn of a first event, which is the fact that victory leads people to feel euphoria.
