How has the french exploration of louisiana contributed to our political identity

The French exploration of Louisiana, as well as other states, contributed vastly to the shaping and great changes of the U.S. throughtout history. Without the French exploration, the French perhaps would not have had as strong a hold on those terriotires, therefore not allowing the U.S. to buy the Louisiana territory (which nearly doubled the size of the U.S. at the time) denying the U.S. from expanding and beign stronger. Through the butterfly effect, the English would most likely have owned this land (or the Spanish) and therefore would not have wished to sell the land to the U.S. for they had vastly colder relationships with the U.S. at the time. Lastly, without the French exploration, as said, U.S. would not have been able to buy the land, therefore making it very difficult if not near impossible for the U.S. to have settled in the West, a land vital to many political struggles, changes, as well as resources. This would have caused Manifest Destiny to not have happened, somethign that was important to showing the world the strength of the U.S.. The Gold Rush and the Transcontinental Railroad would have also been unable to happen, therefore further affecting the U.S. politically due to the general expansionist identity of the U.S. citizens.

the most likely reason why dante included the names of historical figures in his well-known masterpiece the divine comedy is because he was trying to expose his own historical judgement to the figures. he settles different characters of the occidental culture in parts of the hell, purgatory and paradise constituting a spiritual judgment according to his thought.
