Kate Chopin´s Desiree´s baby (1893) which is published in Vogue magazine show us the dramatic story of an Afro-american girl who has a baby with a powerful region man, owner of several cotton plantations which in spite of loving his wife and children is beaten by social prejudices and finally abandoned them.

One of the most important topics in this story is the deep gap that can be generated by racism in people who have been subjected to social stigmata to have a different color skin that wrongly defined or not their civilian rights into the society.

It should be noted that, although in our days is not so evident the contempt and the social stratification defined by the color of skin, this story have to serve us as a beacon, to finally defeat stereotypes, the racism and finally the reconnaissance of their civilian rights.
