What do you call a work of literature that idealizes rural life?

Pastoral

Pastoral is a mode of literature which occurs in many types of literature like poetry, drama, and elegy.

It was defined in three ways by Terry Gifford, a prominent literary theorist, In his critical book Pastoral:

1)discuss life in the country and in particular the life of a shepherd

2)describes the country as rural, with an implicit or explicit contrast to the urban

3)depicts the country life with derogative classifications.
