Iwanted to stay angry with him, even though my anger was acid, eating away at my soul. it was my comfort, my security, to know that i had it. i controlled it; i decided wheather to keep it or to let it go. and i kept it. and oh, how it burned. how does the metaphor in this passage most clearly support the author's purpose
