In the romantic tragedy play "Romeo and Ju l iet" by William Shakespeare, the two protagonists Romeo and Ju li et had to endure separation even though they love each other. This is because of their feuding families, which became a stumbling block for their love to be fulfilled.

In Act I scene v of the play, Romeo and Benvolio had 'crashed' the party at the Capulets' place. And it was here that Romeo set eyes on Ju li et for the very first time. He instantly fell in love with her, and so does Ju l iet. The two instantly fell for each other and thus began their love affair. The only thing was that they did not know each other well enough to know their families are sworn enemies. The lines in the given passage is from the party when Romeo kisses Ju li et's hands and 'role-play' a pilgrim and a saint. But the dramatic irony of this scene is that they haven't realized each other's real identity and that they are from feuding families.
