i am interested in the preschool teacher’s aide position you posted at jefferson high school. as the oldest of four siblings, i have plenty of experience caring for young children, and i find that i enjoy it immensely. in fact, my career goal is to teach elementary school.

i have heard wonderful things about your preschool classes. several of the children i care for are enrolled, and their parents speak highly of the program. i believe my enthusiasm and love of young children will be a perfect match for your teacher aide position. for the past four years, i have provided child care to neighbors and friends. i accompanied one family on their two-week vacation to disneyworld as a nanny, caring for the three children when the parents wanted an evening out and assisting in their supervision at the amusement parks. my conscientious work has resulted in many referrals, which in turn has brought in new clients.

to further enhance my understanding of young children, i have selected elective courses that will assist me in my goal and improve my skills. additionally, my volunteer work for two summers as a teacher’s aide at our local head start program has given me invaluable experiences in working with groups of children and assisting a teacher. for example, i supervise the students on several field trips, including a visit to the zoo, a dairy, and a local theater performance. on those occasions, i was entirely responsible for my group of 8 to10 preschool students. at the end of the summer, i was given a certificate of appreciation and for my job well done.

i believe that i can apply many of my skills, qualities, and acquired knowledge to working with children in your preschool. i’d love the opportunity to speak with you about the position in more detail. i will follow up with a phone call next week after you’ve had time to review my resumé. you for your time and consideration.
