You are working in the preliminary design of an adiabatic nozzle that will accelerate a flow of air. Your job is to specify the pressure and temperature conditions at the inlet of a nozzle such that the actual exit conditions are: ðððocðð¡y: v2ð = 450 m ð Tðmpðððð¡ð¢ðð, T2ð = 500 K Pððð ð ð¢ðð, P2ð = 120 ðPð Also, the isentropic efficiency of the nozzle must be kept equal to 0.95. Please answer the following. Note: for the solution of this problem do not use average specific heats, use variable specific heats (the exact method)
a. Create a schematic for the nozzle, include the boundary that you will use to solve this problem along with the interactions across it.
b. Write the most general energy balance equation for this nozzle when it performs under actual conditions. List the assumptions and why each term is dropped in the equation(s). Finally, write the simplified energy balance equation. Use subscripts (1) for the inlet and (2) for the exit.
c. Use appropriate relations to determine the required inlet temperature for the air. Before substituting numerical values please write your expressions in literal form. Indicate the table number you used.
d. Use appropriate relations to determine the required inlet pressure for the air. Before substituting numerical values please write your expressions in literal form. Indicate the table number you used.
