Water of mass 5.0 kg is contained in a vertical frictionless cylinder-piston system. The mass of the piston is such that the water exists as saturated liquid
at 10.0 MPa. There is a heat transfer to the cylinder until the piston reaches to
a stop, at which point the volume is 0.05 m3
. There is additional heat transferred
to the water until the water exists as a saturated vapour. Determine the total
work done, the total heat transfer and show the process on a T-v diagram.
