Have you ever noticed the ridges/groves on the outside of a power cable to a fixture/small household device (desk lamp, table lamp, can opener, toaster, etc.?) One side of the cable is smooth while the other side feels ridged to the touch. Why are these cables marked in this manner? Where in the NEC is this listed?
