A 2.0 Liter container is filled with 250 grams of water and 1.0 gram of nitrogen gas (N2). The container is heated to 75°C and allowed to equilibrate. The liquid water occupies the bottom of the container, and the void above the liquid contains the nitrogen gas and some water vapor. Assume that the nitrogen which dissolves in the water is negligible and that the density of water is a constant 1000 kg/m3. (a) Find the volume occupied by the water.
(b) Find the partial pressure of the nitrogen gas.
(c) Find the partial pressure of the water vapor. The Antoine equation coefficients are given below. The units on the coefficients are mmHG and °C.
A. 7.96681
B. 1668.210
C. 228.000
(d) What is the total pressure in the vapor phase of the container?
