Combustion gases enter a gas turbine at a velocity of 15m/s, a temperature of 800K, a pressure of 500kPa and a volume flow rate of 2m3 /s and exit the turbine at a pressure of 100kPa, a temperature of 350K, and a velocity of 2m/s. Heat is transferred from the combustion gases to the ambient at the rate of 690kW. Compute the mass flow rate of combustion gases going through the turbine and the volume flow rate of combustion gases flowing out of the turbine. Also, compute the power produced by the turbine and the rate of entropy generation in the process. Also compute the rate of irreversibility in this process assuming an ambient temperature of To=25o C. Assume the combustion gases to have the properties of air and assume that they behave as an ideal gas with constant specific heats [1.004kJ/(kg K) for Cp, o and 0.717kJ/(kg K) for Cv, o].
