The label on a bleach bottle states that it contains 5.25% (by mass) sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl). Assume that the bleach is manufactured by adding this chemical to otherwise pure water. Take the density of bleach to be the same as that of pure water, 1.0 g cm^-3. Assume that the NaOCl dissociates completely and the pKa for hypochlorous acid is 7.6.

a. What is the pH of bleach?
b. Bleach can be used as an emergency disinfectant for example, for water after an earthquake. Assume that the target dose of free residual chlorine (HOCI + OCI-) to be added is 50 g m^-3. How much bleach (in cm^3) would you add to 1 L of water to disinfect it?

An open feedwater heater operates at steady state with liquid entering at inlet 1 with t? = 40°c and pl = 1 .2 mpa. water vapor att2-200°c and p2 = 1.2 mpa enters at inlet 2. saturated liquid water exits with a pressure of pa 1.2 mpa. neglect heat transfer with the surroundings and all kinetic and potential energy effects, determine the mass flow rate of steam at inlet 2 if the mass flow rate of liquid water at inlet 1 is given as 2 kg/s.
