Two cylinders are to be press-fitted together so that the principal stresses with the greatest absolute value is not to exceed 60 percent of the yield strength of the material. Both members are made of steel with a yield strength of 80,0001b/inZ^2, E = 30 times 106 lb/in^2, and v = 0.29. The nominal diameters of the cylinders are 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 inches.

a. Determine the maximum acceptable radial interference and the corresponding interface pressure.
b. Under the conditions of part (a) plot the stress distribution for each member
c. If under the conditions of part (a) the assembly is further subjected to an internal pressure of 5000 lb/in^2, determine the resulting stress distribution in both members using the method of superposition.
