An inventor claims that a secret machine can take two airstreams and produce in steady flow a single high-pressure exhaust steam. Specifically, this machine has two inflows of air. At one inlet port 10 kg/s enters at 0.101 MPa and 293 K. At the other, 2 kg/s enters at 20 MPa and 1273 K. There is a single air-outlet stream discharging to the atmosphere at 5.4 MPa.4 No fuel enters the machine, nor are there any other inflows or outflows of material. The casing around the machine is well insulated, so that heat transfer between the machine and the surrounding air is negligible. Assume that kinetic energies at all stations are insignificant. Is it possible that such a machine can be made to operate in steady state? For air, assume k=1.4 and cp=1.0035 kJ/kg-K.
