The torque vs. time curve for a particular mechanical actuation system can be modeled as an offset sin wave with an average torque of 150 n-m, an amplitude of 50 n-m, and a period of 0.5 second. if the nominal speed of the input shaft is 3,000 rpm, determine the mass moment of inertia of the flywheel needed to reduce peak motor torque significantly while limiting the coefficient of fluctuation to no more than 0.05. assume the flywheel will be mounted on the 10 mm diameter input shaft of the motor, and the motor inertia can be ignored.
once you determine the required mass moment of your flywheel, design the flywheel and create a standard engineering drawing with 3'' angle orthographic views that also include an isometric view in the upper right corner of the drawing. submit a fully dimensioned engineering drawing hardcopy, along with a printout confirming your mass properties of the flywheel computed using solidworks. upload your solidworks solid model file to canvas.
extra credit: use standard gd& t callouts, symbols and datums on your engineering drawing to insure the concentricity and parallel requirements will be met when machined. all gd& t tolerances should be 0.01 mm. also, include a standard keyway in the flywheel for the bore specified.

To save energy, the air supply to a 2000 ft office has been shut off overnight and the room temperature has dropped to 40°f. in the morning, the thermostat is reset to 70°f and warm air at 120 f begins to flov in at 200ft'/min. the air is well mixed within the room, and an equal mass flow of air at room temperature (changing with time) is withdrawn through a return duct. the air pressure is nearly 1 atm everywhere. ignoring heat transfer with the surroundings and kinetic and potential energy effects, estimate how long it takes for the room temperature to reach 70°f. plot the room temperature as a function of time.
