Design two independent experiments to determine the specific heat of the given object that is made of an unknown material. you have a sample of unknown specific heat, water, a thermometer, ice-water, a heating pot, a dewar (okay, really just three nested foam cups, but still a pretty well insulated container), a balance, graduated cylinder, and miscellaneous foam cups, paper towels, tongs, and other hardware. by all means, look up known properties of water. also, even if you haven’t done it regularly before, today might be a very good day to consider repeating your various experiments to judge their reliability and merits probably at least 3 trials per experiment would be advisable.
