Consider the schematic below. the vpulse part effectively applies a 0v-to-10v step at time 20 nanoseconds. the source resistance is rs and represents the internal impedance of the function generator. the velocity of the transmission line is such that it takes a pulse 100ns to travel from one end of the line to the other. (the length and period of the pulse are made long enough that the pulse will not go low during the time we are considering it. effectively, the vpulse part goes from 0 to 10v and stays there, emulating a 0-to-10v step function for the first 4ms or so.) (a) calculate the reflection coefficient at the load gamma_l. (b) calculate the reflection coefficient at the source gamma_s. (c) calculate the first non-zero voltage to appear at node vin. (note that initially the source has no way to knowing that a load rl = 225 ohms is attached. it can only see z0=75 ohms.) (d) calculate the first non-zero voltage to appear at node vout. (note that the incident and reflected waves superimpose simultaneously.) (e) calculate the second non-zero voltage to appear to node vin. (again, the incident and reflected ways superimpose simultaneously. there waves will add on top of the voltage that is already present.) (f) enter the circuit into pspice. the ideal transmission line is part t from the analog library. you will need to display the names and values of td and z0 in order to set them. z0 is the characteristic impedance of the transmission line and td is the propagation time to travel down the line. set up a time domain simulation for 250ns with a step size of 100ps. run the simulation and plot vin and vout. it is suggested that you plot them on separate plots, one above the other, by using the plot.| add plot to window command since they tend to overlay each other in certain sections. also, right-click on the traces, select. properties, and make the traces thicker for a better display. print out your plots and turn them in. (do the voltage levels agree with your analytic calculations? )
