a pipe a& b connecting two reservoirs is of 75 mm diameter (as shown in figure
qi). from a to b it is horizontal and from b to c it falls 3.3 m. the lengths of ab and
bc are 24 m and 15 m respectively and each length has two 90° bends in them. the
water level in the reservoir at a is 3.7 m above the pipe and at the level is 1 m
above the pipe. assume: the fanning friction factor, 0.006 and the entrance and
exit losses are 0.5(u/2g) and 1.0(up/29) respectively. the loss due to each of the
90° bends is 0.4(u®/29).
calculate:
p-0.238
a) the quantity which will flow through the pipe
b) the pressure at point b, commenting on its implications bv
c) the total flow rate needs to be increased by 18 m/hour by adding a second pipe
in parallel to the first. neglecting the minor losses (entrance, exit and bend losses),
calculate the minimum diameter of this new pipe. d. 50.3 minte

An electric motor is used to drive a power press which makes steel turning moment diagrams 323 pressings from a metal sheet. the motor runs at a mean speed of 50 rev/s. the torque required is 10.0nm for 0.2s, followed by 1.0nm for0.3 s with this sequence then being repeated. what is the minimum power required of the motor and the moment of incrtia required for the t1ywhcel if the speed fluctuations are to be restricted to 1.5%?
