Refrigerators utilize a large amount electric power to operate. in a small city, the electric power comes from a power plant which utilizes coal to generate electricity. the power plant produces 1.1 kg of carbon dioxide (co2) per kwh. there are 300,000 households which each have refrigerators consuming approximately 700 kwh of energy per year . how much co2 per year is released to the atmosphere as a result of the refrigeration load? what engineering solutions could be implemented to reduce the amount co2 released?
