When a heat exchanger was first installed tests showed that the overall heat transfer coefficient was 213 w/m2k. after it had operated for six months a re-run of the tests gave a value of 133 w/m2k for the overall coefficient. inspection showed the inside of the tubes to be clean but the outside to be heavily fouled. estimate the fouling factor on the outside of the tubes, taking the fouling factor on the inside to be zero
