Orphaned executions may arise due to process failures during remote procedure call (RPC) interactions between clients and servers2. Operating Systems employ one of two methods to tackle the problem: orphan destruction (OD) and orphan adoption (OA). In the OD method, the orphan thread is killed and the the state changes made by this thread are rolled back to the pre-orphan states.
