There is a need to compare and align one's PEC to that of a successful entrepreneur because doing so help ensure success in one chosen career. PEC refers to Personal Entrepreneurial Competencies, which are the important characteristics that one has to possess in order to be a successful entrepreneur.

It is defined as those competencies or personal attributes that an entrepreneur must have in order to be successful. The greater the measure of these attributes displayed in a person, the more likely the person is to succeed as an entrepreneur.

These attributes reveal the probability of success that a person can have as an entrepreneur.

Knowing these factors and evaluating oneself, or a potential candidate or the key leader of a start-up against them can provide valuable insights into the future of the enterprise proposed to be led by the aspiring entrepreneur.

If a person with great ideas for a startup for instance is looking for funding from an investor, a savvy investment analyst while analyzing the competencies of the leadership of the organization will be able to make a well-informed decision.

An aspiring entrepreneur can also leverage information provided by this analysis to determine whether or not they should become an entrepreneur.
