You are network technician for a small corporate network. An employee in the Support Office says his computer won't connect to the network. The IT manager suspects there is a bad patch cable in the networking closet. In this lab, your task is to find the bad patch cable and replace it with another Cat5e cable to see if that resolves the issue.
Inspect the activity lights on the switch to find the connection that is not lit or blinking.
Select the cable plugged into the connection and make note of the switch port number and the label on the patch panel.
Remove the bad cable and plug a new cable from the Shelf into the switch and the patch panel. (The new cable must be the same type of cable you just removed).
If the replacement is a good cable, the link light will be lit and blinking on the switch.
Go to the Support Office and open the Network and Sharing Center on the workstation to make sure the connection issue is resolved.
