Remember, an Optical signal is a type of electromagnetic signal, and so it is possible for radio frequencies to be converted or received into optical signals since they both use a form of electromagnetic waves or signal.

Indeed, Optical signals have different properties/characteristics and operate at higher frequencies than RF signals. For example, it uses a Near-infrared band (wavelength) of 800 nm - 1600 nm which is different from RF signals.
