The first question, I would say False, a bit is merely something that has a state of either a 1 or 0, (on or off). This can be an electrical pulse, a photonic pulse (fibre optic, light) or even a punch card, the punch card has either been punched through, 1, or not, 0.

Second question allot easier, true. Semiconductors are as the name implies, 'semi' 'conductors', they can conduct electricity, but not as well as conductors.
