You work at the computer desk for a small publishing company with about three hundred employees. one day you receive a call that chantal is having trouble with her computer. her main problem is that everything is running very slowly. it takes much longer to open programs or save files, and she is having trouble logging onto the internet. she cannot recall anything specific that she did or did not do to cause this to happen.

think about the steps you would take to figure out what the trouble is. write down at least six steps you would take, in order, to discover the issue. show what files you looked at, how you accessed them (e. g., via the control panel or search function), what information you were looking for (e. g., amount of memory or hard drive space), and how you think you would identify the trouble. if you have access to a computer, implement the steps you listed.

write down a list of at least four possible issues that could be slowing down the computer (for example, a computer virus, lack of hard drive space, or problem with a driver) and a two- or three-sentence description of what you would do to fix the problem (for example, scan for a virus then clean up the computer hard drive).

chantal drops off her computer so you can fix it.

submit a two- to three-page document that lists the steps you took to try to uncover the problems, the list of possible issues that could be causing the slow down, and your thoughts on the solutions to each problem. this does not have to be a narrative account; it can be a table on one page documenting the steps and a separate table on another page listing the ideas and solutions.

submission requirements
use standard english and write full phrases or sentences. do not use texting abbreviations or other shortcuts.
make any tables or charts neat and well organized.
make the information easy to understand.
