Content from online educational tools that is not protected under ferpa includes:
a. student grades from online assessments if that information is tied to identifying information, but only for the purpose of self-assessment
b. any metadata that an online tool produces (for example, data about a student’s usage of a tool, or how much time it took them to take an assessment or look at a video) is not protected if it is not tied to any identifying information
c. digital work from students that has been graded and is being presented as examples for other students
d. no online content is protected by ferpa because it is protected under the children’s online privacy protection rule (coppa)
