According to recent definitions proposed, a data scientist is a researcher who interprets the complex form of digital data by using different softwares.

The data scientist is different from simple data analyst or data statistician because the data statisticians have a degree or background of statistics , applied maths or same kind of field. However, a data scientist is a modeler maintains and makes softwares that use algorithms ,processes,methods and systems to take insight and knowledge in both unstructured and structured form from raw data.

Nowadays, data scientists hold important position in different organizations. This is because the data organizations collect is raw, so what data scientist does is that he collects, cleans and munges tha data.

The data scientists can be of different types depending upon the requirement of organization.

Exploratory data scientists:

They work in areas like SAS, Python and R, They basically create visulaizations.

Operational data scientists:

They work on  large scale software implementations of learning systems.
