The movement of pebbles in a river makes the rock to collide and also rub against each other and the bed of the river therefore, the abrasion causes the grinding, this makes the rocks to become round and smooth. This is achieved by tumbling of rocks as result of the movement of the water current.

While the rock that are found in deep underground are usually igneous rock.The rocks are moved into deep ground as a result of tectonic plate movement, When this rocks are subjected under high pressure and temperatures they will become hot and they will melt,then molten rock(magma) are formed. In some case the magma will cool and igneous rock will be formed deep underground. In other case the magma flows to the Earth’s and volcano is formed.

The rock from deep underground would have their edges to be rough simply because it has stayed without tumbling or rolling like that in the river bed.
