In a nuclear power plant, where are fuel rods found and what function do they perform?

The fuel rods contain the pellets of uranium dioxide which releases radioactive energy.

The fuel Rods are primarily  found inside the Reactor Core itself but It is mainly Uranium or Thorium which provides a nuclear reaction that produces intense amount of heat in where water is converted into steam and made to turn the turbines.
