In a chemistry assignment we used the ideal gas law (PV = nRT) as follows to find the volume of a glass container which doesn't change throughout the course of removing some gas from it: V = (∆n)RT/(∆p). How is this allowed algebraically? Is it always true that if A*B = C*D*E, then (∆A)*B = (∆C)*D*E?
