A student was asked to prepare 2.5 L of a 3.5M CuSO4 solution (the molar mass of CuSO4 = 159.6060 g/mol). The student placed 400.0g of CuSO4 crystals in a 2.5 L (2500 mL) volumetric flask and filled it with water to the 2500-mL mark. the resulting solution was not 3.5M, it was only 1.0M. This means that the solution was too dilute. Did the student add too much CuSO4 or too little CuSO4?
