Differentbetween sound and vibration​

As far as I know, the only difference between sound and vibration is that sound propagates but vibration does not. In most cases, they are the same.

The source of a sound vibrates, bumping into nearby air molecules which in turn bump into their neighbours, and so forth. This results in a wave of vibrations travelling through the air to the eardrum, which in turn also vibrates.

Sound is the vibration of air particles (compression and expansion) the can reach your ears. But you can have vibration being propagated in liquids and solids as well.

Some sounds are generated in structures, so the vibration of a structure is converted to sound in air — for instance, a loudspeaker.
