In the year 1609 A.D. Galileo discovered 4 Jovian moons, the moons craters, and the Milky Way galaxy. Astronomers study conditions that only happen in space and cannot happen on Earth. An astronomer would need to know what the high school and college requirements, where they want this job to take place at and the history behind it.  

First, when becoming an astronomer teenagers in high school would need to take mathematics, physics, and chemistry in high school. Then after they would need to attend four years of college earning a bachelor's degree in physical science; their master’s degree in physics and astronomy; Doctorate Degree and Ph.D. Dissertation; and a postdoctoral fellowship. For an example of a college would be California Institute state of Technology the cost for attending would be $56,862 for tuition fees; for a room and board would be $17,337; and for total enrollment is $2,237.  

After getting out of college the adult would need to be find a job that goes under their profession. For instance, in Charlottesville, Virgina there is a job called the National Radio Astronomy Observatory and for starting astronomers the pay is $59,420. When they start working their way up the high-level astronomer pay goes all the way to $185,780 a year.  

Finally, knowing some background information on astronomy could help a person learn more about the subject they like. One interesting fact would be in 1998 A.D. Galileo discovered the origin of Jupiter’s rings. Then in 1997 A.D. Mars Pathfinder lands on the red planet and the Russian Venera 7 becomes first to land softly on the surface of Venus in the year 1970 A.D. Knowing some facts about astronomy helps every astronomer get understanding what they want to be.  

The famous English physicist Brian Edward Cox once said “There are billions of places out there that we know nothing about. The fact that we know nothing about them excites me, and I want to go out and find out about them. And that’s what science is. Overall, an astronomer needs to know what educational requirements are needed for them, where they wanting to work at, and what types of history happened to past astronomers.
