A balloon with a fixed amount of air is at room temperature. The balloon is placed in a pan of hot water.
Describe what happens to the balloon in the hot water.
Explain what happens to the pressure, volume, and temperature of the gas inside the balloon.
Explain what happens to the air molecules inside the balloon.

My
When a balloon with a fixed amount of air at room temperature is placed in a pan of hot water, it will become larger. Both the volume and pressure of the air inside the balloon will increase as the temperature rises. The increase in volume is in accordance with Charles’s law, which states that volume is directly proportional to temperature and with Gay-Lussac’s law which states that temperature is proportional to pressure. Although the increase in both pressure and temperature might appear to contradict Boyles’s law which states that pressure is inversely proportional to volume, this is not the case as the law assumes a fixed temperature which is increasing in this case. The particles inside the balloon will move faster as a result of the energy gained from the rise in temperature and will collide more frequently. They will start moving with more force, causing the pressure to increase and causing the balloon to expand outward until the pressure inside the balloon is equal to the pressure outside of it.

Thanks in advance!
