The pressure of a weather balloon is measured at dawn. The volume of the balloon is 850 litres when the temperature is 10 degrees Celsius and has a pressure of 240 kPa. The balloon is filled to the point at which it can no longer expand. The temperature will reach 37 degrees Celsius by noon. /
A) What will be the new pressure inside of the balloon at noon (assuming its volume does not change)? Explain your answer.
/
B) How many moles of helium does the weather balloon contain?
/
C) The scientist decides to change the initial pressure, so the balloon is not in danger of bursting on such a hot day. Calculate the highest pressure that the balloon can begin with in the morning to avoid exceeding 252 kPa at 37 degrees Celsius. Assume a constant volume.
