This is a photograph of what occurred as the canisters were moved toward each other, In the second part of the experiment, the teacher off a new piece of tape and pressed the tape firmly on her lab bench, pulled the piece of tape "up" and attached it to one straw. Then she ripped a second piece of tape from the dispenser and attached it directly to the second plastic straw. She placed the canisters 12 inches apart. "How will the pieces of tape behave as I move the canisters closer together?" the teacher asked. What is your response?

A) As the canisters are moved closer, the pieces of tape will repel each other because they have like charges.
B) As the canisters are moved closer, the pieces of tape will attract each other. They do not have like charges.
C) Because the teacher handled the tape, neither piece is charged. The pieces of tape will not repel or attract each other.
D) How the tape behaves depends on how the pieces were placed on the straws. If the sticky sides are facing, the tape pieces will attract.
