Ms. Copeland's students built this model of an aquifer. Once built they added water and then on the top of the "hill" poured a small amount of used black motor oil simulate chemical pollution. They waited an hour and then used a long eye-dropper to remove some water from their well (the straw). The water did not contain the motor oil (pollution) but the students noticed that the oil was covering most of the pebbles in their model. Ms. Copeland asked her students to devise a method to remove the oil from the aquifer. What solution would you predict to be the most reasonable plan?
