By absorbing hcl (g) in water, an 8 mol/l hydrochloric acid solution [sg = 1.12, cp = 2.76 j/(g solution °c) is produced. liquid water enters the absorber at 25°c and gaseous hcl is fed at 20°c and 790 torr (absolute) pressure. assume that all the hcl fed to the absorber is absorbed by water. take 1 l of product solution as the basis for your calculation. a) estimate the volume (in l) of hcl that must be fed to the absorber. (7 points) b) estimate the heat (in kj) that must be transferred from the absorber, if the product solution has a temperature of 40°c. (13 points) c) estimate the final solution temperature, if the absorber operates adiabatically.

The human eye contains a molecule called 11-cis-retinal that changes shape when struck with light of sufficient energy. the change in shape triggers a series of events that results in an electrical signal being sent to the brain that results in vision. the minimum energy required to change the conformation of 11-cis-retinal within the eye is about 164 kj/mol.
