Why is it a good idea to follow up a job interview with a -you note to the interviewer?

It's always a good idea to follow up a job interview with a thank you note for many reasons.
1. It shows that you value the opportunity to have this interview.
2. It makes the interviewer remember you as a candidate
3. It shows that you value the person taking the time to interview you.
