Content theories of motivation focus in large part on the needs that influence employee motivation. This activity is important because needs impact the direction, intensity, and persistence of employee efforts at work. The goal of this exercise is for you to understand the defining characteristics of, as well as the distinctions among, five content theories of motivation. First, hover over each characteristic to read descriptions of the various content theories of motivation.
