Dear Ms. Smith:

I discovered in the community blog, the Falcon Observer, that you have a part-time sales associate position. I would like to be considered for this position.
I see where the position calls for a person who loves books. I am that person. I not only love to read, but I also love to write. I am very organized, and I am very good at following instructions. I also love working with other people.
I have enclosed my resume for your review. I look forward to visiting with you further about the position. You may call me at 575-555-1234. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Jessica Jones

The information needed
Your friend Jessica has never written a résumé or cover letter, and she turns to you for help.

Jessica explains that this will be her first “real” job, but she has babysat for three years for the Johnson family’s twin boys. The Johnsons love Jessica because she speaks to the boys in English and Spanish, her parents' native language.

Jessica is a few years older than you and attends high school at Freedom High School. She takes honors and Advanced Placement classes. Her career goal is to be a famous author or journalist. Jessica has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll every year in high school. She is also the assistant editor for the school newspaper, a member of the National Honor Society, and an active member of the Creative Writing Club. As a writer, Jessica found that she needed computer skills, so she took a course that allowed her to earn her industry certification in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Jessica also volunteers her time teaching Spanish-speaking children how to read at the local library.

Thanks for the help :)
