An "emg" is used to record information about skeletal muscle electrical activity. emg stands for electromyography. it is a procedure used to asses the muscles' health and the nerve cells that control these muscles. the neurons send electrical signals to muscles which causes for them to contract. it records electrical activity from the muscles since when the muscles are active, electrical signals can be detected. emg uses a device called electrodes in order to detect and transmit signals. the signals are then translated into sounds or graphs. results from this procedure could reveal nerve and muscle dysfunction as well as nerve to muscle transmission problems.
