The Handheld Devices Division of Plasteel Communications is evaluating a proposal to introduce a new line of cellular telephones. In evaluating the proposed project, the company has collected the following information: • The division estimates that the project will last for five years.
• The division will need to purchase new equipment that has an up-front cost of $30 million. At the end of year 5, the machinery will be sold for an estimated after-tax salvage value of $15 million.

Working capital investment is projected to be 20 percent of sales, with full recovery at the end of year 5.
