What was new about what the CPI achieved? What major domestic forces and developments compelled the U. S. government to launch this project? According to in-class discussion, in order to accomplish their goal, ads must do two things? What are they? Now study this ad. If you look closely the ad uses historical and ideological narratives (particular to the American context). We studied the complex ideological narrative that this ad draws on to do its work. What is this ideological narrative and how and why did it develop in US history? How does the ad use these historical and ideological narratives to accomplish its goal? In other words, what are the ad’s hidden meanings and messages? Who is its audience?
